A search engine is a site you visit to find other web pages. Image your looking for a holiday in spain, you would go to your favourite search site (maybe Google) and type in 'holiday in spain', that site would then show a list of other sites that sell holidays in spain (you would hope), the site you used to do this is called a search engine.
The most popular search engine site is Google, other well know search engines may be Yahoo, Ask, Lycos, MSN (windows Live), Bing even your internet providers home page might have a search engine on there site.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation and is a process of getting your web site listed on search engines.
Think about your searching habits, you go to Google and type in holiday in spain, a page appears with 10 results all pointing to other web sites offering deals on the holiday your after, after you look at all 10 pages you haven't quite found that perfect deal but 9 times out of 10 even though your search returned thousands of results your not going to visit the next page of results. This means you may have missed out on a great deal from a different company that web site wasn't listed on results page one.
Don't worry your not the only one to dismiss looking further then page 1 but this could be a customer that's just missed your business, only 1% of searches reach page 5. For your business this is bad news, if your business is not listed on page 1 you will not be seen by more than 75% of potential customers, that's if your web site is even listed on search engines.
To get onto the search engines you need to submit your site to them, easy? yes but its far harder to get on page 1 as search engines decide which sites to list on page one when a user searches for the keywords related to your business/web site, they do this by giving your site a ranking, your ranking is decided by many factors: Keyword to quantity ratio's, Paragraphs and contents structure in the correct order, correctly validating code, accessibility and many more.
To add to this other web sites, maybe your competitors, will also be having there web site improved to meet all the standards that's required to get on that ever more important first page. We analyse your competitors web site and design your SEO in a way to gain a higher ranking make sure you come out on top.
